1. 功耗

基于石英的振荡器具有低得多的功耗,因为它们具有基波或谐波振荡以及电路结构简单的优点。

相比之下,基于 MEMS的振荡器消耗更多功率,因为它们具有更多电路。PLL 和 LCVCO 提高了总功耗。因此,MEMS 振荡器的电流为 6.09 mA,而标准石英晶体振荡器的电流约为 3.16 mA,这是 MEMS 仅实现与石英振荡器相当的抖动和相位噪声水平所需的电流的两倍。

3. 抖动和相位噪声 

A) 抖动

我们选择现成的价格相当的振荡器。一种带有基于 MEMS 的谐振器,另一种带有基于石英的谐振器。在 12 kHz 至 20 MHz 范围内测量 MEMS 振荡器的抖动时,我们测得 1.5 pS rms 抖动。在 12 kHz 至 20 MHz 的 SONET 带宽上测试基于石英的晶体振荡器时,我们实现了 0.18 pS rms 抖动。这比 MEMS振荡器好近八倍。选择 ECS 部件进行比较是因为它是一种“标准振荡器”,用于许多应用并大批量生产。请参见下面的图3。

B) 相位噪声

实验室测量还表明,石英振荡器的相位噪声比 MEMS振荡器好得多。

MEMS振荡器在低偏移时具有较高的相位噪声,因为与石英相比,硅谐振器的“Q”或品质因数较差。在 10 Hz 时,石英振荡器的相位噪声比 MEMS 振荡器好 36 dB。低偏移的相位噪声对无线通信至关重要,并可能导致光通信中的一些错误。MEMS振荡器对于高偏移(12 kHz 至 20 MHz)也具有更高的相位噪声,因为它们使用低 Q LC 振荡器用于 PLL 电路。

MEMS振荡器具有由小数 n 分频器引起的杂散。这些杂散发生在带内并导致确定性抖动 (DJ),从而降低系统误码性能。杂散引起的 DJ 必须被视为所有类型电路的抖动预算的一部分:有线、光纤和无线。使用基本晶体的石英振荡器没有这种杂散。

4.频率稳定性

每个振荡器的频率稳定性测量结果如下图 6 所示。这些结果是在 3.3 V 和 25°C 下测量 50 秒的时间。MEMS 的频率跳变约为 ±600 ppb,远远超过大多数无线标准。基于石英的振荡器几乎没有运动,而且更稳定。

5. 频率随温度特性
